Puppy’s Loving Home is a non-profit organisation founded by a middle-aged couple, Thean Yoon Wah and Chan Li Yan. 🧡 Their shelter is a loving home for hundreds of abandoned dogs, hence they are always on the lookout for kind-hearted individuals who can help walk and shower their four-legged friends!
If you would like to help out this lovely couple, you can call the number above or reach out to them on Facebook to book a slot before visiting their shelter!
All in all, there is actually nothing much to prepare for when you are visiting a physical animal shelter but you should always call a shelter prior to volunteering to learn about their house rules. 😉 These shelters need as much help as they can and it will be an amazing experience to be able to help out and play with the dogs! We would just suggest you to wear a pair of long pants and bring a water bottle and you are pretty much good to go!
If you are afraid of being alone for your first volunteer experience, you absolutely do not have to be! 🥺 I, the author of this article, was also alone when I first volunteered at an animal shelter and I was indeed clueless and scared. But the people at the shelter were extremely kind to guide me through my first volunteer experience and needless to say, I had so much fun walking the dogs and showering them! 🧡
Dogs are social animals, thus it is not good for them to be locked up all day. However, it is also difficult for the caretakers to take hundreds of dogs out for a walk in a day, that is why volunteers are always welcomed to lend a hand. When you volunteer to walk the dogs, you are giving them a chance to socialise and interact with humans which also makes it easier for them to get adopted. 🐶 Yay, one less homeless doggo!
If you have any questions, please feel free to send us a message on our Instagram or to our email address. Thank you for reading this article! 😆
